Find and replace

We worked to add find and replace over multi file in KDevelop. You can look at it on the following video. However some modifications are already planned.

    Thanks for the video, it looks really nice.
    I love the checkboxes system to selectively replace changes! :D

    Some thoughts:
    - different layout for the search dialog itself? :P
    - always display text for the green checkbox toolbar button (e.g. “apply changes”)
    - rename the “replace” button with “preview” ?

    I’m working on this feature, Thanks for feedback !

    Actually, the replace button will disappear, replacement text will be prompted after search (in the treeview) and previews will be computed dynamically. Additionally, “apply” button will be bigger (we have a lot of feedbacks saying this button is too small).

    About the search dialog layout, I agree this it’s a bit primitive, but honestly, I don’t have any idea of improvement…

    Hi,

    It’s great to see how nice this new KDevelop’s feature is. I like it a lot the way it’s been developed. Yet, I would like to put my two cents:

    - I would add the text “Apply” beside the apply icon. It would make the button bigger as the same time as clarify its purpose.
    - I think the name of the buttons “Replace” and “Search” and fine, and I don’t think “Preview” is suitable at all, but the former should have three dots at the end indicating to the user that further action is needed to complete this task. For instance, common actions such as “Print…”, “Save as…”, “Preferences…” among many others, all end with three dots to let you know that something else must be done in order to complete each particular action. In this case, “Replace…” is what the user would expect.

    I’ve seen there is a combo beside the Template field, but I only understand the meaning of “verbatim” and “word”. What are the remainder options intended to do?

    Great feature, a must have for an IDE!

    I tried it a bit yesterday with KDevelop git master. There’s one thing that is not quite convenient – the tree items are collapsed by default, which means to see the actual replacements (or even find results) one has to expand the items one by one. I think simply making them expanded by default would be nice (as in KDevelop 3, IIRC).

    Also, something to make the results stand out from the filenames would be great (maybe make the filename lines a different color or something). KDevelop 3 handles this nicely, the filenames and the code have different colors there.

    An option to both Find In Files and Replace of “whole words only” would be really nice.
